Joe and Laura Lowther
“Mission Housing came to our aid and we are so grateful. They have been excellent to work with and so faithful to the Lord and his purposes.”
Joe and Laura
Joe and Laura are committed to their church - Christian Fellowship in Richmond where Joe has been based for 30 years and as a married couple for 10 years with their 3 children Theo (6), Seth (3) and Josh (6 months). Joe leads a missional charity called Kick London, whose mission is to transform young peoples lives with God’s love through sport. The aim is to see more young people re.engage in church by going into Schools and deliver sports services whilst teaching Christian values. Laura is a trustee and volunteer for ‘Riverbank’ a local Christian Charity which seeks to love, support and befriend vulnerable single Mums and their families in Richmond borough. Laura plays an active role running a weekly mother and toddler group and is also a part of the befriending programme to support vulnerable women.
The challenge of living locally with a growing family has been a battle for the family but they have seen God’s hand through this. The phrase ‘there is always a test in a testimony’ has been spot on and what a testimony it has been for them. Needing to move out of a house they had been able lodge at was a anxious time but in seeking the Lord they felt God give them two words – ‘Fix to our eyes on Jesus’ and ‘Be in the area’ but with property in London being so expensive this was not straight forward and it has been their testimony that God loves a photo finish!
They ended 2015 with only 40% of what it cost to buy a house in the area but by June have been able to purchase a property. Location matters to the Lord. In November 2015 they felt God gave them Joshua 1. To prepare to move out to a promised land, to be strong and very courageous. Laura was pregnant with Joshua and due in early March, the month the agreement ran out at the current residence.
“Mission Housing came to our aid and we are so grateful. They have been excellent to work with and so faithful to the Lord and his purposes.” Family and friends contributed gifts and equity loans and we reached a point where Joe and Laura could visit properties 2 weeks before Josh’s birth. They made a decision and put an offer on a house and after 3 rejected offers the vendor accepted the week of the due date. There were many twist and turns in the lead up to completion on the house but God was faithful throughout and 3 months after Joshua was born they moved into a house in Whitton, South West London.
They can testify that Acts 17:26-27 is spot on. “From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.” God cares about the exact places we should live and he does this to draw us closer to himself, Praise the Lord and thank you Mission Housing for everything you have done.”
