Latymer Community Church serves the Lancaster West and Silchester estates. It’s located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea – the borough with the greatest financial divide between rich and poor.

The deprived north of the borough – where the church is located – was formerly known as the Piggeries and Potteries and is now well known for the Notting Hill Carnival and, tragically, the site of the Grenfell Tower disaster.

There has been Christian mission in this area for 160 years. Originally through Latymer Mission, and more recently through Latymer Community Church, a small church of 30 to 50 people – the majority of whom live within walking distance of the church building, many have lived in the area for many years – some since childhood.

The church’s primary focus is on the local community – meeting local needs, sharing God’s love in both word and deed.

They need key church workers to intentionally move in to the area and be part of the community and the church. People like this play a vital role in journeying alongside long-term church members in increasing what the church can do.

Latymer Community Church is committed to serving God in Kensington and Chelsea. Properties are expensive - to meet their needs a two-bed property would cost in the region £575,000 – which is more than they can afford. That’s why they are working in partnership with Mission Housing – a Christian charity that enables key Christian workers to afford accommodation.

We recognise the impact that the energy, capacity and faith journeys of people – who have caught God’s heart for marginalised areas – can have when they come to live as part of our community and be part of the church.

Could you provide a loan to enable Latymer Community Church to permanently move key Christian workers into the community they love to live and work?
