Reaching children through Schools in North London
Statistics show that the number of children in churches is declining. Pathway’s ministry is all about equipping churches to reach children and families in their community through their local schools.
Having been a children’s minister in North London since 2008, Ashley had a heart for reaching families in this area and supporting the churches there. So in 2021 when Ashley was invited to lead the ministry at Pathway, the only thing holding them back was their lack of a home. Having been in church housing in his previous role, it wasn’t going to be easy to find something for his family of six (and a dog!) at North London prices. That’s when he was told about Mission Housing.
Amazingly, it all came together so quickly, in a way that only God can make happen. Contacts from the churches they had belonged to, and from the Pathway network of supporters gave so generously that the prospect of owning a home, which just a year or two before felt like only a distant dream, had become a reality.
Pathway’s growing work reaches 50 schools, 27 churches, reaching over 10,000 children a year through assemblies, clubs and workshops in schools, and equipping churches through training events, resourcing holiday clubs, and providing a support network for those working with children. The house is ideally situated in the centre of the region that Pathway serves, near to the office, and, given that the work involves visiting many schools and churches across the region, makes it so much more feasible. They are so thankful to now have a place that feels like home and a sense of permanency where they can drive down roots in this community.
