Vision, Mission & Values

Vision and Mission

Our vision

Our vision is to see God’s Kingdom
grow in England and Wales.

The problem

The specific problem we exist to address is that high property prices can prevent key Christian workers from living in the communities they are seeking to serve.

Our mission

Therefore, our mission is to assist key Christian workers to carry out God’s mission and ministry by providing a range of housing solutions.

Our values

Faith driven

Our faith in God is what motivates us. We seek guidance from God in our decision-making and exercise faith in Him as we implement our actions. We are prayerful in all we do.

Kingdom focused

We believe the kingdom of God is about the here and now. This shapes our understanding of holistic mission, our desire for people to encounter Jesus, and our longing to see individuals and communities transformed.

Relational

We want to build meaningful relationships with those we support, and our lenders and donors. We recognise that we all have a unique role to play in God’s mission – so we treat people as individuals. We are committed to working in partnerships with churches and Christian organisations.

Good stewards

We desire to be generous in our support of key Christian workers. To do this we need to be wise with the resources God has entrusted to us. We ensure the necessary systems are in place for effective financial management and are committed to the principles of accountability and transparency.

Striving for excellence

We do things well. We’re not aiming to just be compliant – we endeavour to be a model of good practice. We are committed to high standards of housing for our shared owners and tenants.

Affirmation of Faith

Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, as revealed in the Bible, is the sole and absolute authority in all matters pertaining to faith and practice. Together we will seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in prayer and reflection to interpret this teaching so that collectively we discern and achieve God’s mission and our purpose through the governance of this organisation.

Our strategy

Expansion

The initiative of recent years to take the Mission Housing offer beyond London and make it available across England and Wales has been successful. There is clearly demand for what Mission Housing provide beyond London and this now needs to be built upon and extended. The expansion will be sustainable and remain focused on our core mission of affordable housing for Christian workers.

Diversity

Progress has been made with improving the diversity of the organisation but there is still much work to be done. Diversity needs to be understood beyond the usual categories of age, ethnicity and gender. The diversity of the Mission Housing offer will also be developed to ensure that it is accessible and available to communities that may find the current offer hard to access.

Partnership

Successful partnerships have been fundamental to the recent expansion of Mission Housing beyond London. Mission Housing will continue to catalyse and develop new strategic partnerships with other organisations where there is a clear mutual benefit in working together, and sharing knowledge, expertise and resources to support and facilitate the development of missional activity across England and Wales.

Resilience

The last few years have seen a steady increase in the number of shared ownerships and properties supported by Mission Housing. While the extension and expansion of the organisation is welcome, it also brings challenges and an increasing need to ensure the long-term resilience of Mission Housing. This will be done by developing the capacity of our staff, finances, systems and processes to ensure an operational resilience that can cope with both internal and external, challenges and changes.

“Housing is absolutely essential to human flourishing. Without stable shelter, it all falls apart.”
