Kim and Richard
FUNDING OPPORTUNITY - SOUTHBOURNE
Kim and Richard’s presence in the local community supports their work significantly, not only by building up relationships with parents, but also with businesses and setting a positive Christian example whilst going about their daily lives in how they respond to others and their children.” - Rachel Dalli
Enabling children, young people and families in Southbourne to explore Christianity
Both Kim and Richard are passionate and long-established youth workers called in the mid-2000s to work in various church-linked roles. They have lived in linked accommodation up until now which has been an enormous blessing to them, but now want to put down roots and show a long-term commitment to the community.
We are here to enable children, young people and families to explore faith in an accessible and relevant way. We currently run a weekly family accessible service, toddler group, bi-weekly Friday Fellowship, Youth Work with two Dioceses, and work with our local schools, local community groups, Alpha and women’s and men’s ministries – phew!
Our church has seen incredible growth in the last 6 years, particularly in the number of families attending services regularly. Back in 2018, there were only a few children in the congregation - now there are 55 families connected to the church and the community thrives.
Kim and Richard are committed to serving God in Southbourne and need to find a permanent home. They love the work that they do in the UK and long for a home that can be a base for their work and hospitality.
A home suitable for their requirements will cost in the region of £600,000 – which is more than they can afford. That’s why they are working in partnership with Mission Housing – a Christian charity that enables key Christian workers to afford accommodation.
